- Me
I’m a happy mom because I have the smartest, sweetest, most beautiful 4-year-old daughter, Samantha! She is truly everything I ever wanted in a child. It is so much fun to teach her. She shares my love of the Beatles and loves to cook with me! She is already a wealth of knowledge when it comes to cooking! Seriously, she knows a lot about food! The other day she told her grandmother that the cookie she was offering her had trans fat, and that her mother doesn’t buy those. TOO FUNNY, huh? She knows lots of flower names, too. Her favorites are coneflowers and tulips. Last spring when we selected some of our flowers for our garden, I allowed Sam to choose several of them. She picked four different shades of Gerber daisies and when we arranged them in the flower bed, they were just beautiful.
I never thought I would be so happy being a homemaker, but since I adore children, cooking, baking, gardening and even cleaning, it has all worked out. Music was my first love, and I still like to play piano. My daughter started taking piano lessons, and she asked me the other day when she can play Beatles music. (That’s what I like to play when I have time) I will always love the Beatles. Their music just makes me feel so good. They were so ahead of their time, and some of the music they wrote, especially songs like ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’ and ‘Don’t Let Me Down” absolutely blow my mind when I think about how much talent they had pouring out of their souls. Paul McCartney is still the coolest, most talented person alive! Now, don’t get me wrong, I do love my hubby, though – ha ha – very much, and we are best friends. He is cool because he also can cook and he loves only good music, as I do. We are very fussy about our music. We like the Beatles of course, Eric Clapton, The Who, Al Green, Bill Withers and Marvin Gaye just to name a few.
We have the cutest dog ever – a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Preston! I often say he’s the best thing I ever bought. He is just so sweet. He loves you to death. If you don’t feel well, he will lay with you, stick to you at your side until you feel better. Another thing I enjoy is reading good books. If you ever have a suggestion for a good book, I would love to hear about it. I am always looking for a good read. The Mists of Avalon is stil my favorite book. It is 1,000+ pages, but I want to read it again. There are certain things you miss when a book is that thick.
I am addicted to Food Network, but it seems like these days I don’t have much time for TV. Often at night, when I used to unwind with a cooking show, my daughter controls the TV and we watch whatever she wants. Sometimes she likes to watch Chopped, which is a cooking competition, or Good Eats, with me.
I enjoy very much singing in my church choir. Recently, we went to Washington D.C. to a pilgrimage in order to celebrate the beginning of the Marian year. Well, that was quite an experience. I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. It was quite an honor to sing at a mass in which the bishop presided over. The people in my church choir are really wonderful people, and I’m glad to know them.
I am really thinking about going back to school to become a dietitian. Food science absolutely fascinates me, BUT I am really not good at science and math. I am much better at the arts. Who knows what will happen. Anyway, ALL THE BEST TO YOU and GOD BLESS.
